Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They help websites remember information about your visit — such as whether you are signed in — so you do not have to re-enter it every time. Kickflip also uses browser local storage, a similar technology that stores data locally on your device.

2. How Kickflip Uses Cookies

Authentication cookie: When you sign in with Google, we set a session cookie to keep you signed in across pages. This cookie is strictly necessary for authentication to function. It is set with HttpOnly, Secure, and SameSite=Lax flags to protect against cross-site attacks. Without it, you would be signed out on every page navigation.

Categorization: The authentication cookie is a "strictly necessary" cookie under EU/UK ePrivacy rules and is exempt from the consent requirement that applies to non-essential cookies. We disclose it here for transparency. We do not set any non-essential first-party cookies.

This is the only first-party cookie Kickflip sets. We do not set advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies.

3. Browser Local Storage

Kickflip uses browser local storage (not a cookie) to save events for users who are not signed in. This data is stored entirely on your device and is not sent to our servers until you sign in, at which point it is migrated to your account and the local copy is cleared.

Local storage is also used to store ephemeral session state (such as your current filter selections) to improve the browsing experience.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Google OAuth: When you sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies as part of the OAuth authentication flow. These are governed by Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy).

Stripe: If you proceed to checkout, Stripe may set cookies as part of its fraud detection and payment processing flow. These are governed by Stripe's Cookie Policy (stripe.com/cookie-settings).

Kickflip does not use any advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or social media tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or similar third-party analytics services.

5. Managing Cookies

You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies. However, blocking the authentication cookie will prevent you from signing in to Kickflip. Instructions for managing cookies vary by browser:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Safari: Settings → Safari → Privacy → Block All Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Kickflip does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals, as there is currently no industry standard for how websites should respond. We do honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as an opt-out of "sale" or "sharing" under the California Consumer Privacy Act, although we do not engage in such sale or sharing in any event. Our cookie use is limited to authentication and essential functionality regardless of DNT or GPC settings.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
